CoolBlue™ tooth whitening

Most at-home tooth whitening requires the use of trays for containing the whitening gel. And most in-office whitening involve some laser heat and a certain amount of temporary discomfort.

In 2005, Milestone Scientific, Inc. introduced a new tooth whitening method called CoolBlue™ Professional Tooth Whitening. Their goal was to create a method that used no trays, took less time, and cost less.

CoolBlue™ uses a special patented wand with a light-emitting diode (LED) at its tip. It shines a blue light which accelerates the whitening action of the gel. You’ll spend less time in the dentist chair and come away with your teeth as much as 7 or 8 shades whiter.

At-home kits

Once we’ve had our teeth whitened, how can we keep them white? Most of us like to drink coffee, tea, and/or soda, and perhaps red wine, all of which stain our teeth. At the Stow Dental Group, we offer the CoolBlue™ Once-A-Week™ kit for you to use at home. It contains a whitening agent that you spray on your teeth, and rinses that enhance its effectiveness. It’s a simple system and used weekly, it will keep your teeth glossy white.

Cool Blue plaque detection

An excellent product we offer for adults and children over 6 is the Listerine® Agent Cool Blue® Plaque-Detecting Rinse. If you rinse with this for about 30 seconds before brushing, it will show the plaque as blue on your teeth. The lid does double duty as a measuring cup.

It’s a useful and fun tool for teaching children good dental hygiene. It should be kept away from children under 6, as it shouldn’t be swallowed.
